Collin Palmer was born in Kingston Jamaica in 1970. Collin and his family migrated to the USA in 1978 during the political turbulence that was rampant in Jamaica. He attended Libertyville High School and graduated in 1988. He then spent the next 16 years on the trading floor of Chicago's financial markets. Art at the time served as therapy and a retreat from the chaos of the markets. Being a self taught artist he has been able to define and stretch the boundaries of his paintings and found object sculptures. Most of his painting will have repeated historical references because of watching the ticker on the trading floor. After leaving the financial market, Collin brought together a group of artist under the banner INSURGENT ART GALLERY which became a roving or guerrilla art gallery. In May of 2006 that roving gallery idea spawned a permanent space, BLAKE PALMER GALLERY.
